Think White to Capture the Vibe for a Vintage Winter Wedding

Think White to Capture the Vibe for a Vintage Winter Wedding | BBJ LinenZev Fisher Photography

There’s something especially romantic about a vintage winter wedding. Perhaps it’s the cozy feeling of gathering friends and family for a special celebration, despite the weather. Or possibly it’s the warmth generated by donning party clothes for a wedding at a ski lodge or mountain chalet, where denim and boots might be more fitting.

Whatever prompted the decision to marry in this season, give full expression to love by embracing winter white with a strong addition of deep color to give it special depth. Employ a few slightly rustic touches — natural white birch and soft pussy willows, perhaps, to add additional zest to the celebration. Read about this unique, white winter wedding featured in The Knot.

There may be snow on the ground outside, but lavish use of white is anything but cold when laced with a bit of golden fabric, in this case a rustic burlap, for this stunning table setting. The floor-length white cloth is tastefully pristine, and simple white chairs add no distraction, but rather serve to reinforce the formality of the table setting.

White, Deep Green and Pale Blue

Award Winning Status | BBJ LinenZev Fisher Photography

Drama for this dream wedding comes from the use of forest green and ice blue, played against an all-white background. Hues of the bridemaids’ gowns and shawls are repeated in napkins, and reinforced in the details with ice blue menus and sparkling miniature garlands on table cards.

Green is also cast in a supporting role for floral centerpieces and bridal bouquet, and as the chuppah embellishment, but it is the predominance of white that elevates this theme to award-winning status.

Let the Background Disappear

Wrap the White with Warmth | BBJ LinenZev Fisher Photography

Rather than trying to disguise or embellish the room’s wood-paneled presence, the designers chose to let it wrap the white with warmth, accenting the room’s fireplace as an additional hedge against the snow-covered scene outside. Glowing candles, sparkling chandeliers and strategically-placed lanterns and family photographs add warmth and charm.

The Details Stage the Celebration | BBJ LInenZev Fisher Photography

No matter what the season, it’s the details that shape the celebration. You’ll never make a mistake by coordinating every aspect of your wedding ceremony and reception. Give the small details particular attention, such as the forest green ribbon that adorns a cake stand and the embracing polar bears that adorn another cake!
